CHALLENGE
FOUNDATION INC.
Mission
Challenge Foundation is a non-profit organization established to provide a neutral platform for multi-sectoral dialogue among health care providers, policy makers, and people living with HIV/AIDS, educators and volunteers leading to formation of a collective voice in the fight against the HIV infection in United States. Foundations key activities include information dissemination, networking, capacity building, education, training, testing and treatment. Challenge Foundation invites Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs)/Community-Based Organizations (CBOs), People Living with HIV/AIDS, U.S. government, Academia, and International organizations to work closely with the Foundation.Challenge Foundation serves clinicians, scientists, activists, people living with HIV/AIDS, artists, social workers, nutritionists, lawyers, public health professionals, educators and volunteers working on HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment issues in North America and plans to start its activities in countries where HIV infection rates are already high.
How Challenge Foundation Combats HIV/AIDS
In the United States and Canada widespread access to antiretoviral therapy has dramatically decreased AIDS mortality but new infections have not decreased appreciably and thus HIV prevalence has increased with approximately 920,000 persons now living with HIV. The adults and children newly infected with HIV are 45,000.
The above figures indicate that a lot of work is to be done for the reduction of this disease. This Foundation is committed to the reduction of HIV/AIDS cases through the implementation of activities that result in:
reduced transmission of infection.
improved quality of life for people living with HIV/AIDS.
strengthened health service and community capacity to provide essential care.
HIV prevention is integrated within all our programmes, through strict adherence to WHO recommended universal precautions against HIV/AIDS. In addition, this Foundation implements specific HIV prevention projects targeting high-risk groups such as adolescents and those affected by sexual and gender based violence.
Challenge Foundation is a tiny oasis of hope and comfort in unmeasured stretches of disease, deprivation and illiteracy. Being conscious of its limitations, our Foundation neither entertains any illusions nor offers utopian formulas. We have miles and very rough miles ahead of us. Through trails and errors of the past, we continue to learn and work solutions of the present day problems. The future belongs to the Lord of Universe, who hath declared;
"We created the world for just and noble ends."
Let us try in all humility to further His cause.
